little anniversaries

my texas sunrise, we
pray for the road. burning
manuscripts, twigs, a map
of the place we abandoned
for a change of heart.
holy firewood!
worlds apart, dusting
ceremoniously. counting
in threes.
we celebrate with a candle.
waxing fingers in a park —
you’re not listening.
mountains matter,
the silence in between.
bless this blue neon,
and everything in my dreams.
